The 1867 book contains 12 full-page illustrations from drawings by Arthur Hughes (plates not included in the pagination, signed "AH" and by the engravers "Dalziel"). --viewed at Internet Archive
It may be that all 12 illustrations are among the 13 reported illustrations by Hughes (see at ISFDB) in The Fairy Tales of George Macdonald, a 1904 collection that contains three more stories.

Did Hughes prepare more illustrations than Strahan (not Bell & Daldy) published in the book? That is suggestive considering one 2006 Dover report of 61 illustrations (see, above).
