Synopsis: A fable told by Ivan Karamazov in The Brothers Karamazov. During the Spanish Inquisition, Jesus returns to Earth, and is promptly imprisoned and ordered to death by the Grand Inquisitor, who upbraids Him for getting in the way of the plans of the church to organize human happiness rationally.
