Note: "Round the Fire" is the "First Part" of 1859 collection Ghosts and Family Legends. The conversation at a house party turns into an extended session of ghost-story-telling, by multiple speakers, divided into eight "evenings" which each contain several stories. "Round the Fire" contains "First Evening" to "Eighth Evening" and, at least originally, contains an "Appendix" described in the table of contents as "Autograph Letters communicating Personal Experiences addressed to the Author". Ghosts and Family Legends (1859) also contains Second Part: Legends of the Earthbound, which comprises six stories that begin on new pages under their own titles --in that, comparable to the eight "evenings" rather than single stories of the First Part.
