Note: One of late Čapek vignettes subtitled "Podpovídka" (sub-story): about 1500 words. First pub in Lidové noviny daily 1 May 1938, book in coll Bajky a podpovídky (Fables and Sub-Stories), 1946.
Synopsis: Mr Tomšík has several flying dreams, tries to do just what he did in them, and finds he can fly indeed. He ends up demonstrating this to the military, but after experts' interruptions that his run-up and jump are all wrong he loses the ability.
