Note: There is one substantial change in the second edition. The 3rd paragraph from the end concludes thus in the 1st ed. (and in the 1850 US 1st ed.): "Heinrick Schubert's is the most celebrated amongst them [certain German books]; it is a sort of cosmogony of the world, written in a spirit of philosophical mysticism--too much so for English readers in general." In the 2nd ed.: "Heinrick Schubert's is the most celebrated amongst them [certain German books]; it is a sort of cosmogony, written in a spirit of philosophical mysticism, which is unpleasing to English readers, in general." The 1850 US 1st ed. uses the hyphen, as in the book title.
