Note: Translated by Richard Robinson. An excerpt from Assertio inclytissimi Arturii regis Britannia, a book which the antiquary John Leland wrote to defend the idea that King Arthur was a historical figure (the king of England at that time, Henry VII, had asserted that Arthur was his ancestor). The Assertio was published in Latin in 1544 and in English, translated by Richard Robinson, in 1582.
