Synopsis: Three starships float quietly through the void of space, on approach to the planet designated as Hayford b. The crew of the UTS Endeavour awake in the resuscitation suite to an alarming development, the colony ship UTS Intrepid is not responding to hails. Dawn—the UTS Endeavour's AI—and Clayton, the ship's captain, give the mission briefing. Commander Havers will lead a recovery team, board the Intrepid and fix the faulty comms array. But as a small vanguard gain access to the ship, those they encounter aboard have other ideas. Hayford b, the target of Humanity's last colonists, is a lie.
