The story was first published in January 1896, as a serial with illustrations by Kerr. --VisualHaggard.org The VH gallery for "Black Heart" contains images of all 6 plates in the Longmans collection, and no others. It implies that two different ones were used as the frontispiece (as one of the interior plates repeated).
