Title: Gogol's Wife Title Record # 44482
Author: Tommaso Landolfi
Date: 1963-00-00
Variant Title of: La moglie di Gogol [Italian] (1944) [may list more publications, awards, reviews, votes and covers]
Type: SHORTFICTION
Length: short story
Language: English
Note: Translated by Wayland Young. From the comments of the editor, Judith Merril, in Best SF 12, it seems Young's translation first appeared in the 1963 collection Gogol's Wife and Other Stories published by New Directions, but its first English language appearance was in Encounter in 1960. It is unclear whether the Encounter version was also translated by Young and that the stated © 1963 is US copyright. Ms Merril did not know when the original story was first published in Italy.

7/-?Prior to decimilisation (1968-1971), UK books were priced in shillings, or shillings and pence, where 20 shillings equals one pound and 12 old pence equals one shilling. Shillings were indicated with a variety of suffixes, e.g. 3s, 3', 3", 3/ all mean 3 shillings. Any number after that is additional pence, usually 6 (half a shilling) but sometimes 3 or 9 (a quarter of a shilling or three-quarters of a shilling).
