Note: Silverberg's 1958 novella We, the Marauders was a compression of the 1958 novel Invaders From Earth. The general outline of the story is the same, but there are significant changes to the novel, such as a different resolution to the main character's personal story.
Silverberg writes (in a writer's blog) "I wrote [Invaders From Earth] for Don Wollheim at Ace and then offered it to Bob Lowndes, whose pulp magazine SCIENCE FICTION QUARTERLY could handle long stories. The title "We, the Marauders" on the magazine version was Lowndes', though I liked it. I don't recall whether he or I did the cutting, or how the changes in plot came about. The Ace version was the original one, though."
