Title: Les enfants du capitaine Grant Title Record # 7390
Author: Jules Verne
Date: 1868-00-00
Type: NOVEL
Series: Captain Grant and Captain Nemo Universe
Series Number: 1
Language: French
Note: Originally serialized in Magasin d'Éducation et de Récréation in three parts, each part illustrated by Riou and restarting chapter numbers. All parts are titled "Les enfants du capitaine Grant". Part 1 appeared from 20 Dec, 1865 (issue #43) to 5 Sep, 1866 (issue #60). Part 2 appeared from 20 Sep, 1866 (issue #61) to 5 Mar, 1867 (issue #72). Part 3 appeared from 20 Mar, 1867 (issue #73) to 5 Dec, 1867 (issue #90). Information based on semi-annual bound volumes of Bibliothèque d'éducation et de récréation (4-8), dates sourced from http://www.j-verne.de/verne_hetzel_2.html. From Horne's introduction to Volume four of the Vincent Parke English translation: The three books gathered under the title "In Search of the Castaways", "South America", "Australia", and "New Zealand", occupied much of Verne's attention during the three years following 1865. These could be considered as 3 distinct novels (in a series). The characters used in these books were afterwards reintroduced in "The Mysterious Island," which was in its turn a sequel to "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea." Thus this entire set of books form a united series upon which Verne worked intermittently during ten years. For information on identifying Jules Verne translations, please see this wiki page.

Captain Grant is not with us, but we are sure to find him."" Part 3 begins: (Chapter 44) "If ever the searchers of Captain Grant had reason to despair of seeing him again, was it not when every hope forsook them at once?
