Synopsis: Two modern English boys see a drummer boy emerging from a tunnel he entered centuries ago, carrying a candle he found below. As they try to help him adjust to modern life, one of the boys is repeatedly drawn to stare into the candle, as the modern world around them increasingly reverts to the stuff of stories--the standing stones move, wild boars roam the marketplace, a boggart plagues a nearby farm, sheep run from the invisible shape making circles in the crops, and the boys are certain that they've seen a giant striding along the next hill. But the changes and visions are becoming more dangerous, and the boys don't know how to stop them.
