Note: Note in Supernatural Sherlocks: "'Number Ninety' was first published in the UK in Pearson's Magazine. A variant version of it, in which the setting is moved from London to Charleston, was later published in the USA." The two versions (which differ in more than location) have not been given separate records yet because it is unknown which version some of the publications contain. Supernatural Sherlocks contains the UK version; Tales to Terrify contains the US version. The story (with the setting in London) was published in 1896 in Chapman's as well: google books (as by Mrs. B. M. Croker).
