Hello, DavidTC, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

Fellowship of Ink

I rejected this one as it is unclear what happens to the old #7 :) Can you clarify your note - what is the new #7 and what happens with this one? Thanks! Annie 05:03, 12 October 2020 (EDT)

'Fellowship of Ink' has Brenda but not Effie - it is set before 'Never the Bride' - so perhaps should be numbered 0.5? It was numbered 7 by Amazon before 'A Game of Crones' was published. DavidTC 06:36, 12 October 2020 (EDT)
I made it 6.5 to be where it will be based on publishing order - we can move to 0.5 if you think it will be better? Annie 06:45, 12 October 2020 (EDT)
Yes - makes more sense in a series order sort of way DavidTC 06:48, 12 October 2020 (EDT)

Iris Wildthyme and the Polythene Terror

Is this the book that you have and trying to add here? It matches the ISBN you are adding so I am a bit confused by the artist you are adding (even your notes says that it is another artist). Can you clarify? Thanks! Annie 05:26, 12 October 2020 (EDT)

The version I have is this one here. There is something funny going on here - Amazon & Obverse give the book more pages, a different cover and a different publication date. The copy I have is the one on Goodreads but the copyright date in the book is November 2019 not October (I suppose it could have been released early!) DavidTC 06:46, 12 October 2020 (EDT)
Same ISBN, different cover? Awesome. Not. Modern publishing... :)
OK - I approved and here is the book. I fixed 3 things: the price (added the currency symbol), format (pb is for US mass market paperbacks/A format in UK (178 x 111 mm or close to it); regular paperbacks are added as "tp") and added the Goodreads number. Let me know if you have any questions/concerns. Annie 07:07, 12 October 2020 (EDT)
It is A format rather than B - unusual these days in the UK DavidTC 08:00, 12 October 2020 (EDT)
Then I have a different question - is it 40K words or more? If it is an A format and just 184 pages, I start wondering if it is a novel at all or we need to reclassify as a novella. I will fix the format (with an apology) but can you do a rought word count on a few pages? Annie 08:14, 12 October 2020 (EDT)
The text is quite dense - approx 300 words a page which puts the word count well over 50,000. DavidTC 10:09, 12 October 2020 (EDT)
A novel it is then :) You may want to add a note into the record that despite its low number of pages, the word count is over 40K (or someone will helpfully decide to convert it at some point...) :) Annie 13:31, 13 October 2020 (EDT)

A Game of Crones

I approved that one but had to do two minor changes:

  • We need the currency symbol in front of the price
  • A few small capitalization changes - we standardize titles - see the Case section here.

The result is here. Let me know if you have any questions and welcome again. Annie 05:30, 12 October 2020 (EDT)
