Welcome!

Hello, PaulLell, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! -- JLaTondre (talk) 11:24, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Kalijor Series Books

With one exception, I have accepted your recent books additions. However, there were some issues with the submissions that I've corrected:

  • Binding: You entered "American Novel" for this field whereas it is supposed to the physical binding format. I've changed these to "tp" (for trade paperback) based on the dimensions supplied by Amazon.
  • Price: The price should have the currency symbol as books are sold in multiple currencies. I have added "$" to the prices.
  • Pub. Series: The publication series field is for publisher based series. These are groups of publications marked out by the publisher in some way (an example would be Barnes & Noble Classics). What you entered was a title series. A title series can only be entered after the title record is created. When adding a new publication, it's a two step process: 1. enter the new publication and wait for it to be accepted; and 2. edit the title record that is automatically created upon acceptance to add the title series. I know that's probably confusing, but if you take some time to go through the help, hopefully it will become clear. If not, ask questions. I have removed the series information from the publication records and entered it in the title records.
  • Artist: You entered three names for the cover artist of Jumah's World: A Tale from Kalijor. However, according to Amazon Look Inside, the copyright page only credits Lyle Miller with the cover artist and the other artists are listed as interior artists. The publication artist field is only used for the cover artist. Interior artists are added by adding an INTERIORART content to the publication (via the "Add Title" button when editing the publication). I have updated the records based on the Amazon Look Inside information.

I did reject the change to the The First Key of Kalijor publication record to add a publication series per the description above. However, I did add the series information to the title record.

I added images links from Amazon for those that had it.

You actually did pretty well for your first attempt editing. The ISFDB has a number of conventions and it can take a bit to wrap your mind around how we do things. I encourage you to read through the help (see links in welcome message above). Also, feel free to ask questions (either here in response to this or if a new topic you can post questions at the ISFDB:Help desk‎). -- JLaTondre (talk) 01:19, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

The Fifth Key of Kalijor

Hi. I accepted your submission of The Fifth Key of Kalijor, but I made two minor changes. The binding codes are case-sensitive (sorry, don't know why), so I change "TP" to "tp". Also, ISFDB's cover links cause the image to be loaded from the linked-to server each time the cover image is displayed. Because this is a burden to the linked-to site, our policy is that links may be made only to sites giving us permission to do so. (See ISFDB:Image_linking_permissions for details). I wasn't sure if you own www.kalijor.com and are in a position to give us permission to link to it, but Amazon has the image, and we have permission to link there, so I changed http://www.kalijor.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/91ZCp8x31nL__SL1500_-691x1024.jpg to http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51NKst0oTaL.jpg instead. You're welcome to change it back. Oh, and I also put the title into "The Keys of Kalijor" series as #5 to save you an edit cycle. Thanks. --MartyD 10:36, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
