Welcome!

Hello, Tbechtx, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Annie 02:05, 18 May 2020 (EDT)

Fantastic Voyage

Thanks for adding the missing editions. I approved it but had to make a few changes:

  • 55302937 looks like the old style SBNs. You can derive an ISBN out of it but can you check if the ISBN is somewhere in its full form? I temporarily removed it from the record.
  • For books from that time, we add the catalog number (T2937 in this case) as catalog ID and leave the ISBN empty.
  • We record Bantam as Bantam Books :)

The result is here. Annie 02:14, 18 May 2020 (EDT)

Thanks! I checked and the only other reference was a Library of Congress Card Catalog number of 66-14718 Tbechtx 13:32, 21 May 2020 (EDT)

Looking Backward

Does your publication have a printing statement? Or any other information that distinguishes it from this version with the same ISBN? Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 16:42, 20 May 2020 (EDT)

It has a string of numbers 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 which i think refers to the printings but, no date of printing specifically. Tbechtx 13:32, 21 May 2020 (EDT)
Yes, that means the 16th printing (smallest number) so it's the same publication as the one I linked above. I have cancelled the new entry which would have created a duplicate publication. Instead, please consider verifying the existing record. Let us know if you have any questions. -- JLaTondre (talk) 14:47, 21 May 2020 (EDT)

Nebula Award Stories Five

re Nebula Award Stories Five: We use the title from the tile page, not the cover. It is common for the two to not match. Per the publication notes for this pub, it states that is the case here and has been verified many times. If you believe this to be an error, please contact one of the verifiers. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 19:05, 19 June 2020 (EDT)

Catalog IDs

re Out of Their Minds and All the Traps of Earth and Other Stories: I had to reject the change to Out of Their Minds as you added the catalog id to the ISBN field. It should go into the Catalog ID field instead. However, this pub and All the Traps of Earth and Other Stories are primary verified. As such, I will run the changes by an active verifier especially given the change in catalog id for the second. Based on the cover, the changes look good but it's good to confirm there are not multiple versions out there. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 19:44, 24 June 2020 (EDT)

Confirmed & both added. Thanks for finding these. -- JLaTondre (talk) 23:27, 24 June 2020 (EDT)

Report on Planet Three and Other Speculations

I had to reject this submission as it is a duplicate of this pub. You have the same 4th printing (per the number line). You are welcome to verify the existing record. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 21:16, 9 July 2020 (EDT)

A Fall of Moondust

I accepted A Fall of Moondust. I corrected the ISBN to add the missing 0 in front. If this wasn't a typo and the 0 is not present on the publication, please add a publication note stating that. The value in the ISBN field though needs to be valid. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 21:16, 11 July 2020 (EDT)
