Welcome!

Hello, Kaonevar, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mhhutchins 01:10, 16 December 2014 (UTC)

Untethered

For various reasons, it is ISFDB policy not to create publication records for books which have a publication date beyond 90 days. Too often, circumstances arise that causes data to change. And sometimes a publication is cancelled.

There are several other problems wrong with your submission. The record is linked to a cover image file on a non-permitting website. Also, instead of typing the contents as SHORTFICTION, they've all been typed as ANTHOLOGY. (That's the type of the publication, not the type of its contents.)

If this book is scheduled to be published before July 15, 2016, I will accept the submission to create a record. Otherwise you'll have to cancel the submission. Please respond here. Thanks. Mhhutchins|talk 00:34, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

Submission has been rejected due to no response. Please resubmit after the book has been published. Mhhutchins|talk 04:40, 20 April 2016 (UTC)

Ah! Okay. Thanks!

The Ringers

I approved this one and added its corresponding ebook but I have a note and a question:

  • The length of the ebook indicates a novella and not a novel - so I converted the record
  • The paperback is nowhere to be found online. As you are entering from the book and the date does not match the ebook's, I will take your work on it actually existing. However - is it really a "pb" (the size of a US mass market paperback)? If it is bigger, it will need to be "tp".

Thanks! Annie 09:58, 8 December 2021 (EST)

Sorry for the long, long delay, Annie.
The paperback for The Ringers absolutely exists. See: https://www.amazon.com/Ringers-Raven-Oak/dp/1947712039/
It is a trade paperback of 5x8 and yes, novella is the proper length. I think I hit the wrong one on that. I do note that Raven Oak is showing up as the cover artist but not author (should be both). The title isn't listed on the author bibliography page. Hope that helps. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kaonevar (talkcontribs) .
No worries :) Well - that book was not in Amazon back then. Now it is all clear - probably a processing delay on their end? 5x8 is a tp so I changed that :)
Raven Oak shows up as both - an author and a cover artist. If you look at their bibliography pages, you see the title three times: under chapbooks (the container), short fiction (the story) and Cover Art. Keep in mind that the story is from 2015 so it shows second on the list of stories. It won't show up in the novels list because it is not a novel :)
Let me know if I can assist further. Annie (talk) 14:28, 31 May 2023 (EDT)

That makes sense! Thanks!
