Welcome!

Hello, Penman Bland, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Hitspacebar 04:26, 28 December 2017 (EST)

Dirck de Lint author image

Hi, your submission for Dirck de Lint has been rejected by a moderator because we are only allowed to link to images on externals site if we have the permission to. See ISFDB:Image_linking_permissions for details this. Alternatively, you can upload an author image to the ISFDB wiki under certain conditions and set a link to it, see Help:How_to_upload_images_to_the_ISFDB_wiki#Author_Photos for details. Spintrian, June 1989

There seems to be a misspelling in the title of this pub and the unknown format could be a digest? --Zapp 17:06, 17 October 2018 (EDT)

Spintrian, June 1989

Your verified magazine Spintrian, June 1989 fails to indicate the format. Please see this section to choose and enter the correct format. Bob 20:59, 17 June 2020 (EDT)

Polar Borealis, November-December 2019

Please don't use "Clone Publication" to enter an entirely different publication. It should only be used to enter a new version of the same publication (where title, author, & primary contents are the same). To enter a new publication, you should use one of the "Add New {type}" options. I did accept this submission, but I had to make a lot of changes to turn it into the November-December 2019 issue. Some other comments:

  • Magazines are dated based on their cover date. When a magazine cover date spaces multiple months, we use the first date.
  • An essay within a publication should be entered as "ESSAY" type and not "EDITOR".
  • You left "Data from the publisher's website" in the publication notes, but you verified it. Verification means you have the publication and have checked the data against the publication. On a verified publication, a secondary source should only be used for data that is not in the publication and then the source statement should specify what data (for example, "No date other than year. Full publication date from SOURCE."). I removed this statement.
  • When entering names with initials, there should always be a space after the period (so "J. J. Steinfeld").
  • Added the last essay per the online PDF and removed the incomplete statement from the pub notes.
  • When there is a common title like Editorial, Introduction, Preface, Afterword, we disambiguate it with the publication title.

Also, please do not upload cover art prior to creating a new publication. Instead, wait for the publication to be accepted and use the "Upload new cover scan" on the publication page. This uploads it to the correct name and applies the proper licensing templates. Thanks. -- JLaTondre (talk) 09:04, 31 July 2021 (EDT)
