: You may be right, sir. I see now in the rules graphic novels are listed as excluded, though it does follow the same mythos as SHADOWS OVER BAKER STREET. I am not sure what the consideration is for "above the threshold" maybe I am? I have hit a bestseller list or two and the majority of my work is text-based spec-fic. I leave it to you.[[User:TheHermit|TheHermit]] 11:33, 28 February 2016 (UTC)

Welcome!

Hello, TheHermit, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mhhutchins|talk 00:12, 26 February 2016 (UTC)

Graphic novels

Most graphic novels usually don't qualify for eligibility in the ISFDB database. There are comic book databases that can do much a better job with that genre than ours. The work must be written directly by an author who is considered "above the threshold", i.e. well-known within the speculative fiction genre, or the majority of whose work is text-based spec-fic. So I had to reject your submission to add a record for The Irregulars. (It also doesn't appear to be spec-fic.) Our rules of eligibility are given here. Mhhutchins|talk 00:12, 26 February 2016 (UTC)

The determination of whether an author is "above the threshold" may be somewhat subjective, but if "the majority of [your] work is text-based spec-fic" then a graphic novel would be eligible under the current rules. So I have created a publication record for the work. Please look it over to see if any additional information is needed, and edit the record if necessary. Blondes in Trouble

I'm holding your submission to add a record for this anthology. It appears to be a collection of mystery stories. Are you certain that all of the stories are speculative fiction, i.e. science fiction, fantasy, or horror, and their various sub-genres? Mhhutchins|talk 00:15, 26 February 2016 (UTC): The stories are a blend. All fiction, certainly. Some tend toward mystery and suspense, the majority evoking some supernatural element.

Up to you, sir. TheHermit 11:35, 28 February 2016 (UTC)
I will accept the submission if you're able to remove the non-spec-fic stories, and delete them from the database. Or you can cancel the submission, and create a new publication record which has content records only for the confirmed spec-fic stories. The latter may be the best approach, since the first method will involve many submissions to remove and delete each of the non-eligible titles. Mhhutchins|talk 18:52, 28 February 2016 (UTC)
