Hi. The basic problem is that you have Chris Butler as a pseudonym of Chris G. Butler. But we're different people. I thought there might be a quick solution to this but quickly realised it was much too complicated for me to resolve.

: OK, breaking the variant title links is easy: I found the variants, and made them variants of publication 0 instead. Then I deleted the stray titles of your stories by Chris G. Butler. The awkward bit was breaking the connection between the author records. In the end I moved "Chris Butler" to "Chris Butler Temp" then edited your three publications back to being by "Chris Butler", then merged "Chris Butler Temp" with "Chris G. Butler" for the remaining record - when someone looks at "Analog Science Fiction/Science Fact, December 1971" they may try and correct it back to "Chris Butler" so I left a note saying it's not you. I also moved the artist to his own record. How does it look now?  [[User:BLongley|BLongley]] 17:03, 10 Aug 2007 (CDT)

Looks great, thanks. I have made a quick update to my author info, and corrected the Asimov's Dec 2002 review of my novel Any Time Now. I'll enter details for the novel when I have time. [[User:ChrisB|ChrisB]] 09:07, 11 Aug 2007 (CDT)

Welcome!

Hello, ChrisB, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! BLongley 13:41, 9 Aug 2007 (CDT)

The Smart Minefield

I've held your submission as it would make the remaining title a child of itself. Can you explain what you meant to do? Sometimes it's easier in plain English. If you're THE Chris (G?) Butler feel free to explain ALL the entries we have, we might have some mixed up! BLongley 14:31, 9 Aug 2007 (CDT)

Hi. The basic problem is that you have Chris Butler as a pseudonym of Chris G. Butler. But we're different people. I thought there might be a quick solution to this but quickly realised it was much too complicated for me to resolve.

I'm Chris Butler (not Chris G. Butler) and the stories in the database that should be credited to me are "Living In Her Shadow", "Cuckoo", and "The Smart Minefield". Also other stories not currently listed in the database.

I suspect the artist of the Asimov's cover for March 2000 is a different Chris Butler again. ChrisB 16:00, 10 Aug 2007 (CDT)

OK, breaking the variant title links is easy: I found the variants, and made them variants of publication 0 instead. BLongley 17:03, 10 Aug 2007 (CDT)
You may also want to go to your entry and use 'Author Data' and/or 'Biography' to tell us a bit more about yourself and why you're not Chris G. ;-) I look forward to seeing you enter your other works too! BLongley 17:03, 10 Aug 2007 (CDT)
