Susan Spilecki is an American writer, teacher and poet. Her work has appeared in many journals and magazines, including Potomac Review, Quarter After Eight, Ekphrasis, and Quarterly West. She is best known for her poetry about Japan and Japanese art, much of which was inspired by the two years she spent in Matsuyama, Japan, teaching English and studying Kendo, Japanese fencing. As a teacher of writing in Boston-area colleges, she is known for her humor, her comfort with many cultures, and her iterative, hands-on approach to creating works with words.
