Gull's birth year is given as 1874, 1875, or 1876 depending on the source. As of 2012-03-21, Wikipedia has it as 1876, IMDB as 1874, and the The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction has it as both 1875 (Thorne, Guy entry) and 1876 (Gull, Cyril Ranger entry).
Steampunk Prime gives it as 1875 in the introduction to The Automaton and that is the date used for the ISFDB entry.
