Welcome!

Hello, Captrobb, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Stonecreek 10:53, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

Your Metahuman vs. ... submissions

Welcome again and thanks very much for contributing! There were some slight changes to be made to adjust to the standards of ISFDB. I removed the pub. series, which already is reflected in the title series: usually, a pub. series clings to one publisher, and here is a second one involved. Also, some of the authors had to be regularized: for example A.P. Fuchs was adjusted to A. P. Fuchs (mind the extra space). At last, for #3 I added the date of publication and a certain co-editor, as stated at amazon. Thanks again, Stonecreek 11:00, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

Do you know, by any chance, if this title could have been written by this author? I guessed not, and to play safe I differentiated the 2011 title to Joe Martino (I). Stonecreek 11:08, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

Actually, Metahumans vs Robots (hereafter "MvR") IS a continuation of the Metahumans Anthologies series. When A.P. Fuchs ("Adam") decided for religious reasons not to do horror any more, J. L. Macdonald ("Jen") picked up the series - with Adam's blessing - under her own imprint, Lion's Share Press ("LSP"). Most of the authors are the same, and story arcs continue across the books. MvR lists all three books as being titles of the Metahumans series, acknowledging of course that the first two were published by Coscom Entertainment.
I believe that Joseph P. Martino is NOT the Joe Martino who contributed to Metahumans vs The Undead ("MvTU"). The latter is primarily a comic book publisher (Red Anvil Comics) who didn't get started until the mid-1990s. Captrobb 17:15, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for your fast response. In the case of the anthlogy series, I don't doubt that they are continued, but usually this is covered by the title series, like here, where, if you look at the respective publications the name isn't incorporated in them. Stonecreek 17:40, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
I rejected the submissions to place the publications into a series of the same name. The titles are already in a title series of the same name. Please read this help page which explains the differences between the types of series. Thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins 19:15, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
Fair enough. Captrobb 01:26, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

Your "The Darkness of Shadows" submission

I accepted this submission, but corrected the cover image you submitted. The image you submitted, from Amazon, was this picture, which has that annoying "Look inside" sticker. You can get rid of that sticker, and get a higher resolution picture, by deleting everything in the URL between the two periods. Then you get this cover image instead. It's a neat trick, and makes your book entries look better. Chavey 12:05, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

Or you can click on the thumbnail image below the larger one and then save its URL. Also, what do you mean by "octavo". That is normally used for periodicals. According to the Amazon listing the book is 6" x 9" which would make it a trade paperback, which we designate as "tp". I'll update the record. Thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins 18:34, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for that. I'll get the hang of this eventually. Captrobb 03:12, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
I also changed the publication date to June 7, 2013. If 2007 is the correct publication date, please change it back. Mhhutchins 18:36, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
2007 is indeed the correct date. I have the first copy, which the author hand-bound for me. Then it was on lulu.com for a number of years before Lion's Share Press published it. Captrobb 03:12, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
The record in discussion was for the Lion's Share edition so the record must be dated the publication date of that edition. If you wish, you can add another record for the lulu.com edition which you can date as 2007. Go to the title record and click on the "Add Publication to This Title" link under the Editing Tools menu. Thanks. Mhhutchins 03:16, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
One last thing (I hope): according to the Amazon Look Inside, the title page of the ebook edition gives the title as Nightcat: The Darkness of Shadows. It appears that "Nightcat" is the series name and so may not actually be a part of the title. I leave it up to you to decide if a correction is necessary. I'll also create a record for the ebook edition. Mhhutchins 18:38, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

Cover image for "Metahumans vs Robots"

I had to reject your submission to add a cover image to this edition, because you linked to the entire Amazon page containing the cover image + ordering information, instead of just linking to the image itself. If you use Mike (Mhhutchins)'s approach to click on the thumbnail image below the cover image, you then get a pop-up window that shows a good image of the cover. Then, depending on your browser, you have to either CTRL-click or right-click that image to "Copy Image URL", or "Open Image in New Tab" to copy the URL from that tab, or something very much like that to get the actual URL to submit for the cover image.
