Welcome!

Hello, KingsOfTheWorld, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! PeteYoung 13:25, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Kings of the World

Thanks for adding your novel, and identifying yourself as the author in the Note to Moderator. I've accepted your submission as it's almost there in the correct format, but it will need a few modifications or additional details that you can add yourself. You may need to refer to the New Publication Help Page (I suspect you have already), which covers just about everything you will ever need to add a new publication correctly.

– Do you specifically wish to omit a period after "J" in your name "Matt J Pike"? Normally we would add a period unless the author specifically never uses one. See Initials under "Author(s)" on the above Help Page.

– Do you have a month or specific date of publication in 2013?

– Is the price in Australian or US dollars (or any other country?) If (as I suspect from your note) it's Australian dollars, it will need an "A" immediately before "$" (similarly for NZ$ for New Zealand and C$ for Canada). See "Price" on the above Help Page.

– We can only accept images hosted by a few named websites that have given ISFDB permission to directly link to them, such as Amazon (see "Image URL" on the above Help Page), so I've had to remove the link to the image. But you can upload cover images to the ISFDB directly and host the image here. The process is semi-automated – see How to upload images to the ISFDB wiki for how to do it.

– The 'Note' should only be used for information that relates to the physical nature of the publication itself, not author information. Now that the Publication Listing is in the database it also has a Title Record/Bibliography (where your Synopsis appears) alongside its Publication Record for each appearance of this title, and the Title Record is the place to record bibliographic information relating to the title (ie. not the publication), so that would be the place to record the information that it's a fund-raising work.

– You'll see you now also have your own Author Page, and by clicking Edit Author Data on the left-hand sidebar you can now add your website, DoB, etc.

It may take time to get used to the architecture of the site and how data is entered, so if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask! Thanks for contributing. PeteYoung 14:20, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
