Welcome!

Hello, Lostscifi, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mhhutchins 18:18, 27 March 2013 (UTC)

1950s Tales of Science Fiction

There are several things incorrect about the submission to add this publication to the database. All of these are explained in the help pages which are linked in the Welcome section above. Please take some time to look them over before making your next submission.

  • Author Field: In an anthology, the editor is considered the author of the work, and only his/her name is included in this field, not every author with a story in the anthology.
  • Date Field: According to Amazon, the publication date is February 23, 2013, which should be entered as "2013-02-23".
  • Binding/Format Field: We use the word "ebook" and not "e-book" for electronic books.
  • Price Field: You must provide the currency since this is an international database. And using a period instead of a comma for US currency. So I changed "1,99" to "$1.99".
  • URL Image Field: The URL of the Amazon image must be manipulated to remove the "Look Inside" logo and the white border around the cover image. All characters between the "dots" should be removed. I changed http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/519TskThjpL._SL160_PIsitb-sticker-arrow-dp,TopRight,12,-18_SH30_OU01_AA160_.jpg to http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/519TskThjpL.jpg

I'll make the corrections and then provide you a link to the fixed record. Thanks for contributing. Mhhutchins 18:28, 27 March 2013 (UTC)

One other major thing I failed to mention: you must provide the source for your data in the record's Note field. If you're working from the primary source (the book itself), then you should do a primary verification of the record. I also added the "Introduction" and titled it using the ISFDB standard of disambiguating generically-titled works. Here is the corrected record. Mhhutchins 18:31, 27 March 2013 (UTC)

And I just realized: the title (1950s Tales of Science Fiction) you gave in the submission doesn't match the title (1950s Tales from Outer Space)given in the Amazon listing. I'm going to change it. If this is incorrect, let me know by responding to this message. (Click on the [edit] link to the right of this message, write your response in the dialog box that opens and sign the message with four tildes (~~~~). Thanks. Mhhutchins 18:40, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
