Welcome!

Hello, MSPublishing, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! --MartyD 10:05, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

Heirs of Prophecy

Hi, and welcome. I accepted your submission of Heirs of Prophecy, but I made a few minor changes to it to get it to conform to ISFDB standards. See the links above for all kinds of helpful details. The changes:

  • I made the binding/format be "tp". We generally don't talk about multiple formats, instead recording each publication in a different format separately. The exception to that is electronic versions, where we'll use a "binding" of "ebook" and then list the formats in the notes.
  • Prices need currency symbols, so I added "$".
  • This one bites every new editor: "Pub Series" is for a publisher's series choice. E.g., "American Classics" or "Horror Masters" or some such. If another publisher published the same title, the series would be different or non-existent. To record the more natural "series" to which a work belongs, we use a "Title Series". The idea there is the work would continue to be in that series no matter who published it. The problem with "Title Series" is you cannot provide that information when entering a New Novel. You have to wait for the submission to be accepted, then go add the series information to the new title. I moved "Prophecies" from the pub series slot to the title.
  • Cover images hosted by external sites can only be linked to if we have permission from that host. Barnes & Noble is not among those. I changed the entry to use a link to Amazon, where we do have such permission.

All very minor things. If you have any questions, you can reply here by editing this section, indenting your response by putting a colon (":") on the front, and signing with four tildes ("~~~~"). Again welcome, and thank you for contributing. --MartyD 10:23, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
