Welcome!

Hello, Moblegend, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mhhutchins|talk 00:35, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

Black Ink Horror

I'm holding your submission to create a record for an issue of this magazine for several reasons which will have to be cleared before acceptance. Please respond to this message as soon as possible, because I can only hold the submission for a limited time.

  • Title field: The issue number or date should be given in the title field to distinguish an issue's publication record from another.
  • Series name and Series number fields: For magazines, the series is the name of the magazine, and the number field is usually blank.
  • Editor field: Are you certain that the editors are Amanda DeBord and Billie Moran? According to the Amazon Look Inside, they are the copyeditors and not the editors of the publication (which is sometimes credited as editor-in-chief or managing editor). I could find no such credit in the Amazon listing.
  • Date field: According to Amazon, this was published on March 17, 2012 (entered as "2012-03-17").
  • Pub/Binding format field: This was entered as "unknown", According to Amazon, this is an 8" paperback, making it a trade paperback and entered as "tp".
  • ISBN field: Publications after January 2007 should have an ISBN-10. That is visible on the back cover in the Amazon listing.
  • Price field: You entered "20.00", which gives no indication of the currency, which is required for a database that contains publications priced at many international currencies. Also, according to the Amazon listing (and the Look Inside), it is priced as "$10.00".
  • Source: You didn't provide the source for the data in the submission. This is required for acceptance into the database. If you have a copy of it, you had the option to indicate that in the original submission. If you don't have a copy, I can give Amazon as the source for the data.

Further questions: Do you know if the Joshua Reynolds credited for a story in this issue is the same author as Josh Reynolds? And is "Alex Smith" the same author as this Alex Smith or one of the others which are linked at the top of that author's summary page?

If the submission is accepted, I will make the corrections outlined above. I need you to confirm the editor credit first. Mhhutchins|talk 00:57, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

Since you've not responded, I went ahead and accepted the submission, making the changes I outlined above. Research shows that Tim Manning was the editor-in-chief of the magazine, but I can't be certain that he continued to be for this issue. If this isn't true, please make a submission to correct it. Hive

Hello, I've approved your submission but had to make some changes to conform to our standards:

  • Changed title to Hive as per title page on amazon (unless HIVE is an acronym).
  • Changed ISBN-10 to ISBN-13.
  • Changed type to CHAPBOOK (a one-story collection) and added corresponding novella content as your text is visibly not of novel-length.
  • Simplified price ("$8.00" is enough).
  • Transferred synopsis at short fiction's title level.

The result is here. Thanks for contributing. Hauck 16:26, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

The New Flesh: A Literary Tribute To David Cronenberg

Hi, I have accepted your submission for The New Flesh: A Literary Tribute To David Cronenberg, but made some changes to conform to our standards:

  • I changed the editors to those who are mentioned as such in the publication, not some random contributors,
  • I changed the ISBN-10 (valid till 2007) into an ISBN-13,
  • Added the currency sign, as we are an international database,
  • Replaced the cover with one supplied by a site for which we have the permission to show it,
  • Added the contents of the publication. --Dirk P Broer 05:35, 10 November 2019 (EST)
