Welcome!

Hello, SJ, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Hauck 14:49, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Inextricable

Hello, I've put your submissions on hold. Can you be more precise about the spec-fic content of this (your?) novel. Thanks. Hauck 14:56, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Can you explain what you mean exactly? This isn't my novel, I listed my references. How can I improve? Thanks.SJ 15:08, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
Is this novel science-fiction, fantasy or horror (spec-fic)? And on what grounds? Hauck 15:11, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
Oh, I see. From all I can tell, it seems to just be a work of fiction. This may need to be deleted. My mistake.SJ 15:22, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for the information, I've rejected your submissions. Hauck 16:09, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

What are the specs for fantasy? Actually much of this novel seems to be fantasy as I perused the pages. It includes angels and a weird conversation with a god, lol. SJ 19:12, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Spec is here short for speculative (and it also encompasses categories like Absurd, Surrealist, Ahistorical etc.). So, if the occurences of angels and the conversation with a god aren't only happening in a dream of a protagonist, this should be in. But, alas, it seems you have to submit anew. According to all of your sources, the book is titled An Inextricable Tale. Is there a reason why you gave it the title Inextricable? Perhaps an earlier or different edition? If so, the ISFDB's title has to match the title of the publication. Mhhutchins|talk 23:51, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

My apologies. It's is in fact An Inextricable Tale, full title. Can that be changed, or do I need to submit again?SJ 23:53, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Paul Allgood's biographical page.

Hello, I've deleted the image that you inserted in Paul Allgood's biographical page which should only contain "a relatively brief, neutrally-written, biographical sketch of Paul Allgood.". The correct place for photographs or sketches is at author level here, that you can edit via the "Edit Author Data Link". I'm not an expert on the subject but, when uploading an image, there must be a licence tag (more details here). Hauck 14:20, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

Same for the photo, please read the above instructions. Note also that, for a person who claims not to be the author, you've got access to a lot of personal material about him. Hauck 07:45, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

That photo has a creative commons license? It's public information. I don't have any more information than anyone else about the author that isn't already publicly available.SJ 11:35, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

As I said before, a photo of the author is not a bibliographical information. Please use the right place to enter it (see above). Hauck 13:04, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi there, might the link you provided be going to a different place than you intended? I'm certainly not trying to place a photo where it doesn't belong. ApologiesSJ 18:34, 29 January 2016 (UTC) Okay, I think I found what you were referring to.Sorry for the issues.SJ 18:42, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

I've done this for you, result is here. Hauck 19:06, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
Thanks so much for your help.SJ 19:15, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

Currency

Because the database contains publications from around the world, the Price field requires a currency. So I added "$" to those you've missed. Mhhutchins|talk 07:34, 29 January 2016 (UTC) Thanks for adding the $SJ 12:08, 29 January 2016 (UTC)
