Hello Titi, and welcome to our bunch! Do you feel up to the task of not only changing the author(s)'s name in the publication but also unmerging and re-merging it (because for us it's a different title, that is nevertheless already established - does that make sense)?

I do not think I can. Can you explain ?

Forget the part about unmerging: as there is only one record with both authors you can edit the publication directly: please be sure to enter the joined alternate name in both sections: the publication record at the top and the content section below that. In a second step (after that's accepted, it is possible to merge the then two existing titles by 'N. Ch. Henneberg' via the 'Check for Duplicate Titles' function on the left tool bar for this author.

No, the fault was on my side, because the tricky part was that the two titles still were different, as one was by Nathalie Ch. Henneberg and the other one by N. Ch. Henneberg. Regarding Les filles de la nuit: as it seems that the alternate name is also stated with the other publication of the collection, it is possible to change the title entries, you just have to do it one by one on the title level. Stonecreek 10:02, 14 November 2018 (EST)

There is a problem with text "La fontaine de Joyeuse". In the book "Histoires fantastiques d'aujourd'hui" author is written "Jean-Louis Bouquet" change to "Jean Louis Bouquet" would not be correct. Also for texts in magazine "Fiction".

"Attaching" translations to originals

Hi, and welcome. I saw your question about attaching texts in a note to the moderator. The ISFDB term for that is "variant". In a variant relationship, the "parent" is the original title, and the "child" is the translation. To attach, you go to the translation title record, and you will find a "Make This Title a Variant" under Editing Tools at the left. This gives you two ways to establish the relationship. If the original already exists, you can find its record number and use that in the top section (you can give the whole URL with the number at the end if you want to). If the original does not exist, or if you're dealing with something like an alternate name, you can fill out the appropriate details in the bottom section. Using that bottom section will create a new parent record. If that new parent record does duplicate an existing record, it is still possible to find and merge the duplicates.

Give it a try and see if you can figure it out. Making a variant relationship is moderated, so you cannot do any harm by trying it -- a moderator will review and can help you with the details. --MartyD 06:39, 15 November 2018 (EST)

In this case that meant that the English story had its length set to "short story" but the French one did not. So the system is telling you that you need to do one more update - to add the length to the French version. I did that for you here after I approved the variant. For short fiction we follow the Hugo/Nebula rules for lengths. Annie 12:47, 15 November 2018 (EST)

Recording a translator

We have a special way to record translators in notes. Instead of writing "Translated by XYZ", we use a Wiki-like template: {{tr|XYZ}}. That ends up rendered as "Translated by XYZ". I made that change to the translator information you provided in L'histoire tragique des comédiens du Jiril. I will do the same to any other similar submissions in the queue that I process, so just something to keep in mind for the future. Thanks. --MartyD 06:43, 15 November 2018 (EST)

Can you check who is the translator of this book? We have another copy of that text (here (translation by M. Le Corbeiller) and if the translator is the same, they need merging. Go on the title level ([http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/title.cgi?2466717 for example). Look at the left menu and locate the "Check for Duplicate Titles" link. Click on it. Should be self-explanatory from there. :) That will not work if the titles are slightly different (in such cases you need to go through the Advanced Search or via the author page). But in this case, as they are real duplicates, that is the easiest way. Let me know if I can assist further. Annie 12:44, 15 November 2018 (EST)
