Welcome!

Hello, Dgs2177, and welcome to the ISFDB Wiki! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Note: Image uploading isn't entirely automated. You're uploading the files to the wiki which will then have to be linked to the database by editing the publication record.

Please be careful in editing publications that have been primary verified by other editors. See Help:How to verify data#Making changes to verified pubs. But if you have a copy of an unverified publication, verifying it can be quite helpful. See Help:How to verify data for detailed information.

I hope you enjoy editing here! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will insert your name and the date. If you need help, check out the community portal, or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Mhhutchins 22:37, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

The First Book of Swords

Hello, I've accepted your submission but saw that you didn't notify the PV of the publication. I've done this for you here, note that such notification (depending on each PV's preferences) is ISFDB etiquette. Hauck 12:24, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

Storm

Hello, I've rejected your submission as it will be easier for you to use the "Add Publication to This Title" function here. Hauck 19:56, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

The West End Horror, A Posthumous Memoir of John H. Watson, M.D.

Hello I've approved your submission for this publication with some adjustments : 1) changed date from 1976 to 1992 as per your notes ("printed in 1992"), 2) corredted artist from "David K,. Stone" to "David K. Stone" also per your note, 3) regularized publisher to "E. P. Dutton" (note that it should perhaps be entered as "E. P. Dutton / SFBC", 4) uploaded the image into our system (we're not allowed to deeplink to d.gr-assets.com), the result is here. There are still some bits of data to be added like the ISBN, the (eventual) price and the "nongenre" flag to set to "Yes" if the book is a "pure" mystery. Please remember that we're a speculative fiction database and that without clear speculative elements, this inclusion is borderline. Thanks. Hauck 13:04, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

Alternate Identifiers

I rejected your submission to add a Catalog number to 'Science Fiction Classics Annual, No. 1. Firstly I rejected it because when we enter catalog numbers in teh ISBN field, they must always be preceded by the '#' symbol. This identifies it as a non-ISBN to the software and triggers certain behaviors in the display of information. Secondly because it was not described as a catalog or unique identifier of the publication or title. There mere appearance of a bit of text or numbers on the spine of a publication does not automatically make it a catalog number. As this was a 'one and only' publication, there is little value (or meaning) to any series of numbers where we only have one number. I have however updated the record to state that 'CD1' appears on the spine, as this is information that might be of interest to a later researcher. Thanks, Kevin 00:03, 15 August 2015 (UTC)
